Bumi Langit: Permaculture
Recognizing the wisdom inherent in natural systems, which not only supply our sustenance but also rejuvenate themselves through innate cycles, ESAS embarked on a transformative journey. Our destination: the BUMI LANGIT permaculture laboratory nestled in Imogiri, Central Java.

ILI-ILI Festival
The “Ili Ili” festival, translating to “water” in Javanese, unfolded at a critical juncture in Temenggung, Central Java. Amidst global and local water crises, ESAS initiated dialogues with experts, indigenous locals, artists, and sustainability practitioners. This impactful event transpired from the 17th to the 19th of November, 2022.

Art Nibs delves into profound issues in two continents: Reconciliation with colonial pasts, pondering nationhood, navigating global dynamics. And projecting future visions. Artworks, often born from discomfort, resist oppression or satirize society. They convey potent political truths about revolution, rights, feminism, and more.

ESAS & Indonesian National Book Community in FIL
In 2019, ESAS and the Indonesian National Book Committee attended the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL), the world’s second-largest. ESAS collaborated with Mexican publisher Impronta, hosting a delegation meeting at Impronta Casa Editora, Calle Penitenciaria 414, Guadalajara, Jalisco.

Dance Performance
'Hari Ini' by Hartati in Collaboration with Ines Somellera
‘Hari Ini’ is a vibrant dance theater piece by Hartati and Ines Somellera, part of Yayasan Kelola’s ‘Empowering Women Artists.’ Inspired by Sumatra’s martial arts and yoga, it’s directed by Ines Somellera for ESAS, featuring music by Marc Apart and costumes by Carlos Soto.
